Taking your bike on the bus is great -- I sometimes do it myself.

But bus bikers, *please* get out of the way of the bus after you take your bike off the rack. Don't get on your bike right in front of the bus and then start riding slowly. The 30 other people on the bus just waited for you to take your bike off the rack, so it's the least you could do to let the bus get moving again, and maybe catch the next green light.

You'd think the second person who did this would have noticed how annoying it was when the first person did it.

A separate thought: now that the bike racks are getting more popular, what will happen when a third biker wants to use it once both slots are full, and the next bus isn't for an hour?

Stay tuned for the next rant: people who load $1.25 on their Charlie Card using the bus farebox, *every single trip*.

I saw my bus while I was still a 1-minute jog from the bus stop, and assumed I'd miss it. But I could tell something was up when I saw the driver and a passenger standing outside looking at the front of the bus.

Turns out they couldn't get the bike rack unfolded, due to an earlier incident when the bus had been pushed by another bus. As a result, I caught the bus, and the friendly driver let the guy bring his bike on board.

My washer and dryer had two annoying "features": a really friggin' loud buzzer when the dryer finishes, and a locking lid on the washer that keeps you from opening it during the spin cycle, *and* one minute afterwards.

I finally disabled the buzzer by disconnecting it.  Both machines are controlled by mechanical relays and cams, and they include a handy wiring diagram.  The buzzer was connected to the "circuit board" with crimped quick-connects, so I yanked both wires off with pliers.  So I can finally start the dryer before going to sleep, without being woken up by the buzzer!

The washer lock will be trickier, since its wires are connected in a huge 20-wire connector.  Maybe I'll take the plunge and cut them.

Late start + frozen bike lock + just-missed train + next train that was eight and a half minutes late = long wait for very infrequent bus

Recent annoying T bus ride:

1. Surveillance cameras everywhere in the bus
2. Extra-bright LED interior lighting (maybe related to #1)
3. Air conditioning stuck on full blast, even when the driver tried to switch it to heat
4. Bus was very sluggish (maybe related to #3), which made the trip 50% longer than it should have been

By the end, I was not happy.

Today's T story:
2 old ladies board the bus.  One shows the driver her senior ID CharlieCard and asks how much the fare is.  The driver says, "You should put some money on your card, and then it will deduct 40 cents each time automatically."  The lady says, "Won't the money fall off?"
